Teaching in the clinical setting often occurs “on the fly” and opportunities for effective teaching and learning can be lost. Clinical teaching microskills comprise a framework clinical teachers can use to engage students and residents in their learning and also to provide critically important feedback. Attend this workshop to discuss this effective 5-step framework, which includes Getting a Commitment from the learner, Probing the Learner for evidence to support his/her thoughts about a patient’s problem, Teaching a General Rule using a guiding principle or a metaphor, Providing Feedback to the learning on what he/she did correctly and Correct Mistakes to avoid repetition of any errors in thought process or conclusion(s).
This seminar will also be video-conferenced to the Jacksonville Deal Board Room and the Aetna Conference Room.
